About the Author

Dr. Giancarlo Crocetti is an Assistant Professor and the founding Director of the AI Institute at St. John's University, where he teaches Deep Learning, Generative AI, Web Data Mining, and Distributed Big Data Analytics.

Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Crocetti spent nearly two decades in the pharmaceutical industry at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he rose to Senior Associate Director of Medical Affairs Analytics and Insight. That experience — leading analytics teams, navigating regulated environments, and translating complex data into executive decisions — shapes every chapter of this book. The frameworks here are not theoretical constructs; they reflect the realities of implementing technology in organizations where the stakes are high, the timelines are short, and the margin for error is narrow.

Dr. Crocetti holds a Doctor of Professional Studies in Computer Science from Pace University, an Executive MBA from the Pace University Lubin School of Business, an M.S. in Statistics and Data Mining from Central Connecticut State University, and an M.S. in Computer Science from Università "La Sapienza" di Roma. He is an NVIDIA Certified Instructor in Deep Learning, an AWS Accredited Instructor, and a Certified Spark NLP Data Scientist specializing in Healthcare.

His research interests span AI-driven education, biometric systems, healthcare analytics, and human-computer interaction. He has been recognized with the Outstanding Adjunct Teaching Faculty Award from St. John's University and multiple Outstanding Student of the Year awards from Pace University.

Dr. Crocetti conducts quarterly AI workshops for business professionals in partnership with economic development organizations, bringing the same applied, practitioner-first approach reflected in this book to managers, directors, and executives navigating the generative AI landscape.
